Bòrd na Gàidhlig Action Plan

Yesterday, Bòrd na Gàidhlig published an Action Plan (Ginealach Ùr na Gàidhlig) to increase the number of Gaelic learners. Delivering the plan will be the Bòrd's main priority till March 2012. There are five priority areas listed:

  • support for parents (of children in Gaelic medium education?)
  • promotion of Gaelic acquisition (including further development of mygaelic.com as the Gaelic information portal and networking, along with other new technologies to promote Gaelic learning)
  • adult learning (including developing learners’ website support mechanisms jointly with BBC Alba and MG Alba and encouraging BBC Scotland to offer more Gaelic learning programming for adults
  • 0-5 years education
  • 5-18 years education

The plan is being debated tomorrow in the Scottish Parliament.
